On 15 August 2025, the streets of Katlehong will echo with powerful voices as KFACE, short for Katlehong Face of Change Empowerment, is determined to spark local dialogue that leads to action. They will be hosting a Public Speaking Social Event under the bold and timely theme: "What is the Price of Being Poor in Katlehong?" The event invites youth, students, activists, and concerned residents to come together for a shared moment of dialogue, truth-telling and community building.
The event will feature local speakers and storytellers from different walks of life. It also welcomes aspiring voices to register and take the stage, a rare opportunity to be heard.
This grassroots initiative aims to unpack the daily realities of poverty, not just through statistics, but through real stories, lived experiences, and bold visions for change.
From unemployment and crime to education and inequality, the cost of poverty in townships like Katlehong is measured in more than just rands and cents. It's felt in overcrowded homes, empty fridges, lost dreams, and the silence surrounding social injustice. But on this day, Katlehong refuses to be silent.
